How to maximize the efficiency of heat pump systems?
Today, heat pumps are revolutionizing the sector of plumbing systems for heating and domestic hot water, with a greener perspective. Caleffi have always been great supporters of renewable energy sources and, for this reason, they have developed a complete range of products to guarantee the correct functioning, efficiency and safety of new heating and cooling systems.
THE HYDRAULIC SEPARATOR
In systems that include a primary circuit and a secondary circuit, we suggest separating the circuits using a hydraulic separator. This is to avoid interference due to variations in flow rate and head generated by the circulation pumps.
Hydraulic separator for heating systems:
MUD SEPARATOR
As regards water treatment, a heat pump system behaves like a traditional boiler system and is subject to the same regulatory requirements (in Italy, the Minimum Requirements Decree of 2015). Maintaining the water quality adequate for constant circulation helps to achieve an 8% energy saving for the system. How? By installing a dirt separator or a magnetic dirt separator and proceeding with the mandatory chemical conditioning using the specified additives.
CALEFFI XF:
DEAERATOR
The CALEFFI HED® high-efficiency deaerator is able to discharge up to 99% of the air present in the heat transfer fluid on the first pass. The circulation of deaerated water allows the systems to operate in optimal conditions without problems of noise, corrosion, localized overheating and mechanical damage.

MOTORIZED DIVERTER VALVES
They allow the flow to be diverted between the air conditioning system (heating and cooling) and the domestic water preparation system.

INSTRUMENT HOLDER
For heating systems with vent, composite safety valve and pressure gauge.
305 Series instrument holder:
ANTIFREEZE VALVE
In the absence of an electrical power supply, the antifreeze valve keeps the water in the circuit moving by partially discharging it when its temperature reaches an average value of 3 °C, thus preventing the formation of ice in the circuit of a heat pump system and preventing damage to the machine and pipes.
