Today we had a Tellarini ENM 25 on the bench. It is a self-priming electric pump from Tellarini Pompe in Lugo, northern Italy, a family company that has built this type of pump for around 50 years.
What is a side-channel pump?
The ENM 25 is a side-channel pump, also known as a liquid-ring pump. Once the pump body has been filled, it draws the liquid up by itself. That is a real advantage when the pump sits above the tank, barrel or bilge.
Tellarini highlights three properties in particular:
- It primes quickly, even with air in the suction hose
- The flow is reversible, so the same pump can fill and empty
- It is not damaged if the liquid runs out during pumping
Technical data
| Model | ENM 25 (art. 501) |

Figures are from the pump’s rating label. Tellarini’s datasheet states a maximum of 50 l/min and 13 m.
Where is it used?
The ENM series is built for heavy, continuous duty. It has an oversized single-phase asynchronous motor and a long-life rotary switch. Tellarini lists these uses:
- Agriculture: liquid fertiliser, crop protection, irrigation and pumps on farm machinery
- Professional use: heavy, continuous tasks and fixed installations
- Industry: machines and production lines
For marine work such as bilge pumping, deck washing and seawater, Tellarini also makes pumps in AISI 316 stainless steel and in 12/24 V versions.
Always choose seals to suit the liquid being pumped. The pump is not intended for petrol or solvents.
